November 2014 Favorites!!

Hey everyone!

It is waaaaay past my bedtime!  So if this blog seems to make no sense at all, you'll know why.  tehe! JK!  I'm tired, but I'm good.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!  Mine was absolutely Merry!  Even though I always stress myself out this time of year, I do enjoy it.  And even though I see my family almost everyday, for some reason, this time of year is always the perfect excuse to give everyone big hugs and kisses.  Even my big brothers.  LOL!  I do love those boys.

Anyhoots, it's time to post my monthly favorites for you!  I'll link them below for you, as well as my video in case you want to hear my thoughts on them.  Again, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Till next time!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

QVC Haul

Hey everyone!

I'm really late with this haul.  But I wanted to share with you anyway.  I absolutely love QVC!  I like to watch in the morning while I get ready for work.  Then there's Tuesday Night Beauty!  Friday Night Beauty!  Shoe Shopping with Jane!  The annual Ffany Shoes on Sale event!  And of course the TSV!  But let's not forget the Easy Pay options.  Easy Pay allows you to get that product that may be a bit more than you want to pay all at once.  Besides all that, it really is easy shopping.  I've done most of my Christmas shopping this year through QVC.

Now that we've established how much I love QVC, we'll get on with the haul.  Since I'm late putting this up, my apologies, not everything is still available.  But I found some good stuff for ya'll.  You can check out my video too! ;)

Till next time!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Marinated Cheese

Hey everyone!  So with the holidays here, we all like to gather together with our friends and family and eat some good food.  Right?  That's what the holidays is all about!  I thought I would share with ya'll this recipe for marinated cheese that I have been making for parties for years.  It's always a hit.  Who doesn't like cheese??

This particular recipe comes from the October 2006 issue of Southern Living.

Here are the ingredients you will need......

1 (0.7 oz) envelope Italian dressing mix

1/2 cup olive oil (or vegetable)

1/4 cup white vinegar

2 Tbsp minced green onion (I use 2 average size stalks)

2 Tbsp water

1 1/2 tsp sugar

1 (8 oz) block Monterey Jack cheese, chilled
1 (8 oz) block Cheddar cheese, chilled
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, chilled

1 (4 oz) jar chopped pimiento, drained
Assorted crackers

Whisk together the first 6 ingredients and set aside.

Cut the Monterey Jack cheese in half lengthwise.

Then cut each half crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices.

Repeat those same steps with the Cheddar cheese and the cream cheese.

Arrange the cheese in 4 rows in a shallow 2 qt baking dish, alternating the cheese.  ( I used a deep Ziplock container for the marinating process, but it was narrow so it works just as well as if you would use a shallow baking dish)

Pour the marinade over the cheese.

Cover and chill at least 8 hours.

When you're ready to serve it, carefully move your marinated cheese to your serving dish.  For extra flavor, I use a fork to grab all the green onions out the marinade and sprinkle them over the cheese.  I also drizzle a bit of the oil over the cheese too.

Then you drain your pimiento and sprinkle them over the cheese as well.

Serve with some assorted crackers of your choice and enjoy!

Such a simple and yummy dish to bring to any party for any occasion.

Till next time!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

October 2014 Favorites

Hey everyone!  Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend so far!  I know I'm extremely late putting up my October favorites, but I do have a legit reason.  My computer is to the max with storage space.  So I'm in the process of safely removing all my YouTube (over a year worth) videos on CD's.  As well as photos.  And it's been a bit of a process.

But anyhootowls......

Now that October has come and gone, and November for that matter, time just fly's by, it's time to show you what I've been loving.  As always, everything mentioned in this video will be linked down below.  *No affiliations*

I hope you all had a very spooky Halloween and a Happy Thanksgiving.  I'll be back soon with my November favorites.  In the meantime, what have been some of your favorites these past months?

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lash

Hey again!  Just wanted to drop a little line about this new mascara that I recently discovered.  It's the 3D Fiber Lash by Younique.  And I am in LOVE!!  I am already a mascara lover.  Well, this stuff just blew me away!  Check out this little before and after....

Crazy right!!??  It gives you the look of false lashes without the fuss!  AND..... it's so much better for your lashes!  So many good ingredients.  It comes in a little eye glass looking case.  And the fibers and the transplanting gel are in separate tubes.  The price is $29.

I can't so enough good things about this product.  I've worn it for a little over a week now and I haven't experienced any of the fibers falling out during the day.  That I've noticed anyway.  But I love it so much, I decided to host an online party of my own.  All I get out of this party is credit towards more mascara!  LOL!  No one paid me to review this product and I bought it with my own money from a friends online party.  If you are interested, you can get your very own mascara here.  You can also check out my video below for more info about the mascara as well as a demo.

Thanks! ;)

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

New Video: Empties!!

Hey everyone!  Happy Friday!  So glad the weekend is finally here.  It's been a looong week for me.

And speaking of long, tehe, my new video is the longest of any of my videos.  I apologize about that. I let my empties basket fill up & over.  I promise I won't let that happen again.

But, if you're like me, the longer the better ;)  I love watching empties videos.  I'm always sad when they're over.  LOL!  I just enjoy seeing what other bloggers are using and what they think about them.

So grab a cup of coffee, tea or maybe even a snack.  Popcorn & rainsonettes are my favorite.

Enjoy ya'll!

2014 Summer Loves

Hey everyone!

Well, it looks like Summer if finally over on my end of the globe.  It's still very warm during the day, but our mornings and nights definitely have that Fall crispness to them.  Which makes me soooooo excited!  Don't get me wrong, I do love Summer, but there is just something about Fall that makes me a happy girl.  I am really sad however that this was the last Summer of True Blood.  Let's just take a moment to say goodbye to Bill and Sookie.....................

This photo was graphically designed by my good friend Julie.  These were Michael and I's Christmas cards one year.  She beautifully put our faces on Bill and Sookie's.  Clever girl.

Moving on.........

So since Summer is coming to an end, I thought I would share with you my most loved products of this past Summer.  All products mentioned will be linked down below.

What were some of your Summer loves??

Aimee Lou

Colbie Caillat - Try

I just had to share this video separately.  It's such a powerful song.  Just listen to the words.  It was one of my favorite songs for the month of August and it still is.  But like I said, I had to blog about it separately. We live in a world of makeup, filtered photos, hair extensions and all kinds of other things that improve our looks.  And that's totally fine.  For me, it's fun to play around with makeup.  Scan through all the filters for my photos.  Pop in some hair extensions to see how I would look with longer fuller hair.  But at the end of the day, when all that comes off, you're left with you.  The real you.  Do you like you?  Yes!  You do!  We are all different in our own special ways.  We are each unique and beautiful.  You don't have to "Try" so hard.  Love who you are.  Embrace you.  Be happy :))

Lots and lots of Love ya'll,

Aimee Lou

Clothing & Makeup Haul

Happy Hump Day!

I just had a particularly lovely Hump Day today.  My bestie and I treated ourselves to a well deserved and well needed massage.  Such a relaxing experience.  I haven't had one in such a long time, I forgot how good they are for you.  Seriously!  Good for not only your body, but your mind and spirit.

Another relaxing experience for me is retail therapy ;)  But it can get dangerous if I'm not careful.  So I try to keep my sessions a good length apart.  Key word being "try".

With that said, here is my latest clothing and makeup haul.

Enjoy!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

How I cover my Blemishes

Hello everyone!

Let me start this post by saying, there is no correct way to cover blemishes.  We all find our own ways to get the job done.  Another words, whatever works best for you.  Some products may work better on you than it does on others.  And vice versa.  But sometimes we like to get advice from others.  I know I do.  I'll take all those opinions and kinda create my own.  If you know what I mean.  Another words, I may like that product this person uses, but not the way they apply it.  So I come up with my own way of applying it.  "What works best for me."

So, with that said, I thought I would share with ya'll how I personally like to cover my blemishes.  I don't do this everyday.  I do have acne prone skin, but it's pretty much under control for the most part.  I do, however, occasionally get those painful under the skin cystic acne.  And they like to get red and angry looking.  When that happens, I do a few different things to my everyday makeup routine.  My technique is a little different and I like to use certain products and tools to help cover my problem area/areas.

I will say that I think the right tools are a big help.  The It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Dual Airbrush Foundation/Concealer Brush is my absolute favorite tool.  I use the larger end to blend out my under eye concealer, and the smaller end for covering up blemishes.  I get a perfect blend every time.  I just wanted to quickly mention that.  I highly recommend this brush.

I also add a few acne treating products to my regimes.  After my toner, I use Murad Acne Clearing Solution all over my face, neck and chest.  This is actually in my usual routine.  It has retinol in it as well as acne fighting ingredients.  I only use this at night cause it gets a little too harsh for my skin if I use it more.  After I apply my night time moisturizer, I spot treat with Mario Badescu Drying Mask and leave it on overnight.  In the morning my acne doesn't appear to be so angry.  LOL!  I only add one product to my morning routine.  After I use my toner, I spot treat with Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel.  I find this isn't harsh on my skin and it effectively dries up my blemishes.  It can get over drying so just be careful with that one.  Once that's dry, I continue with my normal routine.

I'll stop here cause you'll see exactly what I'm talking about in the video below.  I hope this is helpful for anyone out there.  Maybe you can find a little piece of advice that may be helpful for you ;)

Till next time!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Review! Mally Evercolor Face Defender

Happy Sunday ya'll!

Just wanted to do a quick review on Mally Beauty Evercolor Face Defender.

This product has a soft silicone feel to it.  It claims to give you a flawless matte finish without the dry ashy look of powder.  I 100% agree!  It took me a few tries before I really realized how great a product it is.  It really soaks up that oil leaving you looking fresh faced without removing your makeup.  I also find that it slightly diffuses the appearance of my pores and fine lines, which it also claims to do.  You'll see in my video below how well this product really works.

I use this everyday for my touchups at work.  Sometimes if I'm feeling spiffy, I will reapply my bronzer and blush with it.  But usually I don't.  It's quick and easy.  Awesome product for all us girls on the go.

If you've been on the fence about this product, I think you should give a go.  It is a bit on the pricey side ($40 @ Ulta & QVC).  But well worth it to me.  I can see this product lasting a long time.

Hope this review was helpful for you.  Don't forget to check out my video below for before and after results as well as a demo.

Have a good week ya'll!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Purple Smoke - 2014 Prom look

Hey everyone!  I hope ya'll all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  Now it's back to reality.  Oh well.  Good things always have to come to an end.

May has been a good month and it is almost over.  Very busy month, but a good busy.  My oldest neice graduated from high school.  So we had many last time events to attend.  It was bitter sweet.  No more band concerts, ceremonies, dances.  I was really sad.  I have two other nieces, but they are only 10 & 8.  We still have plenty of time before they graduate.  But Alexis is my middle brother's daughter and last child.  My nephew, Tyler and his oldest son, is now 23 and lives and works in Florida.  I know.  Crazy right?!  I was only 12 or 13 when he was born.  And 17 when Alexis was born.  So they are sort of like my little brother and sister.  I absolutely adore them.  As I do my other 2 nieces, Carly and Jolie.  But I practically grew up with Tyler and Alexis.

Anyhoots, I'm sure you get my point.  I'm totally rambling.  Sorry about that.

On to the Prom look!

This is the exact look I did for Alexis's Senior Prom.  I absolutely LOVE how it came out!  Especially on her.  We were crunched on time, but I pulled her aside for a few pics of the look on her.

Isn't she beautiful?!  Here's a closer look....

I loved it so much on her, I just had to recreate for ya'll.  Check out my video below to see exactly how I got this look.  I'll have a list with links below as well of all products used.

Till next time!
Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Bare Minerals Pure Brightening Serum Foundation

Hey everyone!  Well, today is the day!  Bare Minerals finally comes out with their new foundation!  And I'm so excited!!!  Can you tell?  LOL!

Let me tell you why I'm so excited!  I was very skeptical at first.  I've tried and still use Bare Mineral products.  The original formula has Bismuth Oxychloride in it which breaks me out.  However, the matte formula does not.  But I rather the original formula's coverage over the matte.  Regardless, I still to this day use the matte formula.  I'm just not all that crazy about it.  Then came the Ready foundation!  I loved it!  The coverage was even better than the original formula.  And I just loved the way it looked on my skin. Sadly it ended up breaking me out too.  I checked the ingredients and of course that evil chemical is in there.  Ugh!  So back to the matte formula for me it was.  Then, one day, as opposed to every day, I was watching QVC and they presented this brand new formula.  I was very intrigued.  As I am with all makeup.  I just want to try it all!  I'm obsessed!  Anyway, I didn't do it.  I couldn't make myself make the purchase cause I just new it would break me out.  I then get an email from Bare Minerals a few days later stating this new product was going to be released May 1st.  A few days after that, a friend of mine asked me if I've heard about this new foundation from Bare Minerals and asked me if I could do a review on it.  So of course I just had to.  The very next time it was presented on QVC, who was offering it before the release date, I ordered it.  Long story short, I absolutely and completely LOVE it!!!  I used it for 3 weeks straight so I could give ya'll my truly honest opinion.  I did actually go back to my Tarte Foundcealer for literally a day.  When I used the Bare Mineral foundation the next day, I was like, "OMG!  I love this stuff!!"  LOL!

Here are some before and after shots....

(before, no filtering)

(after, no filtering)

See how it just evens out my skin tone?  Takes away the redness, covers any imperfections.  I'm just in love.  Have I said that too many times yet?  At this time I was not having any breakouts so no concealer was needed.  Lately though, thanks to those monthly hormones, I do have a few minor ones.  So extra concealer was needed.  I just can't get over how this foundation works.  It's a liquid, but yet, it's so lightweight you hardly feel it on your skin.  It's just flawless.  And I do find it to be brightening.  I am hooked.

Here's a shot I took at work the other day with my phone.

I took this shot around noon.  No filtering in this photo either.  But look how bright my face is.  And notice I'm not all that greasy.  I'm still oily, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't look like I am.  Just amazed by this foundation, let me tell you.  I do touch up once a day.  But I do that with any foundation.  I'm just greasy like that.  LOL!

So to sum it all up, I LOVE this new foundation from Bare Minerals.  And it comes in 20 shades!  If you'd like to see me applying this in action, check out my video below.

Thank ya'll so much for taking the time to read this.  I hope it was helpful.  Till next time.....

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

P.S.  Found out more about this foundation here.  It's also available at Ulta or on QVC.

P.P.S  And if you shop online, you can earn cash back when you shop through Ebates!  Check it out!

OOTD: Easter Sunday

Hey everyone!  Hope ya"ll are having a wonderful weekend!  I've had a nice 4 day weekend.  I am NOT ready to go back to work.  LOL!  I am however excited to see my Boo this evening.  He's been in Houston for drag races.

But anyway, I wanted to share another fashion post with ya'll.  My Easter Sunday outfit.

We had a such a beautiful day for Easter.  We spent it at home this year with my immediate family.  Very laid back, but nice.

So back to the outfit.  I just LOVE American Eagle jeans.  I spotted these about a week prior and just knew they would complete my look.  They are the cropped leggings.  At first I was worried about them being distressed for attending mass, but quickly got over that once I put the look together.  I found this top at a local boutique.  Virgo Boutique if you live in my area.  Blue is my favorite color and this royal blue print just jumped out in front of me when I walked in the store.  And the pink added that Easter feel to it.

And the shoes made all the difference in the world.  Paired with the distressed jeans added a little edginess to my look.  Which I personally like.

Love love love the cut outs & laces.  They are only about a 2" heel so they were super comfy.

I kept my jewelry light & easy with a simple long necklace with a  white pendant on the end, white floral earrings, stacked rings & my new beloved Michael Kors watch.

Bella had to join in on the fun as well ;)

I hope you enjoyed this post.  This outfit will not only be for Easter Sunday.  I can see many possibilities & different looks with all these pieces.  Especially those white crop jeggings.  White is very much in right now.

Thanks so much for reading ya'll!  Hope your Easter was just as blessed as mine was.  Till next time...

Lots of love,
Aimee Lou
