I'm in shade Light 48
So let's get down to the nitty gritty. I have not tried all her products yet, but I am loving what I have tried so far. Above is a pic of her lock-it foundation. My first impression was that I immediately loved it. (video at the bottom of this blog) It covered every flaw, whether it was a blemish or hyper-pigmentation. Here's a look at the before and after......
My complexion was actually pretty good on this day, but you can still see how it just evened everything out. And I matched myself perfect! I'm pretty excited about that cause I normally have a hard time matching my skin tone. I'm light with a medium/neutral undertone. So it can be tricky. But go me! LOL! Or maybe I should give the credit to the variety of shades in this foundation. There are 19 shades. You can check them out here.
As my day went on, I was even more impressed. I have EXTREMELY oily skin. I'm talking to the point of my face looking wet. LOL! Pretty gross right. Ok, maybe that was a bit extreme, but I am really oily. Everywhere. No combination here. You get the picture. But by midday, I could hardly tell if I needed to touch up just by looking at myself in the mirror. I was still oily and could use a touch-up, but I didn't for the sake of wanting to see how far I could go, if needed, without touching up. So this was midday......
You can see that I may be a little oily on my cheeks, but overall not bad at all. Here's a pic right before I took it off.......
Here you can see some more oil on my forehead, but again, not bad. It was pretty late too when I finally took it off. Hence the baggies under my eyes. LOL! It does claim to wear for 24 hrs, which I don't think I will ever be wearing it that long, but it definitely last over 8 hours. It never broke down. Which is huge for me. Having such oily skin, some foundations will break down by midday on me.
So my first day using this foundation was a success. I was and still am in love with this foundation. It reminds me a lot of Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. One of my other loves.
It's been a few weeks since I first wore this foundation. So I've been experimenting on ways to apply it, as well as how it performed on a recent trip I took for work. I tried applying it with my Makeup Geek Stippling Brush. I love this brush. But I didn't like the finish when using it to apply this foundation. I forgot to mention that this foundation can be a bit thick. It doesn't feel thick on the skin though. But can be tricky spreading it out. I even tried my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. That didn't work well at all. It left it very streaky. I had to use my Beauty Blender to smooth it out. Which is my favorite way to apply this foundation. The Beauty Blender to me works the best.
Now just last week I had some classes to take in New Orleans for work. I was there for 4 days. My days were so filled with classes and activities that I did not have time to touch up. But by the end of the day, I was just so impressed with how good this foundation performed on my skin. I used it everyday. It did not break me out. Big plus. It didn't break down. Nor did I look greasy throughout my day. So overall, a big A+ for Kat Von D lock-it tattoo foundation!!!
I hope this helped if any of you were curious or thinking about buying this foundation. I highly recommend it. Especially for all you oily ladies like myself out there ;) I think it will work on combination skin as well. If you are more dry, I can see where this foundation might stick to dry spots.
Has anyone tried this foundation? How did you like it?
Check out my first impression video below to see how I applied it and what I thought on first application. Oh! In the video I used 2 pumps. After playing with this foundation for a while, 1 pump works just as good if not better.
Till next time!
Lots of love,
Aimee Lou
