Mary Kay @ Play

Hey Ya'll!  And welcome back to my blog!

Today I wanted to talk about the new Mary Kay line called Mary Kay @ Play.  It's a super cute line and I couldn't wait to get my paws on them.  It looks like it could be geared more towards teens, but anyone can wear it.  I've already played with a few colors and I'm well into my 30's.  But we're not gonna talk about that.  tehe!

Let's get on to the real fun!

From left to right:  On the Horizon, Earth Bound, Tuxedo, Ocean View

These cuties are the Baked Eye Trio.  I just love the @ symbol on the packaging.  The texture on these are buttery to the touch.  And they swatched really well.  They all have some shimmer to them, but no fall out.  So far I've tried On the Horizon and Ocean View.  I can't wait to try Earth Bound!  Love that forest green!  Below are some swatches.

The first three swatches are the On the Horizon trio.  Followed by the Earth Bound trio.

The first three swatches are the Tuxedo trio.  Followed by the Ocean View trio.

Here's a couple of shots of me wearing On the Horizon.  Also, I'm wearing Violet Love Lip Crayon topped with Crushed Plum Jelly Lip Gloss.  I'll get to those in a few.

And here's one of Ocean View.  Again, I'm also wearing Toasted Lip Crayon on my lips topped with Teddy Bare Jelly Lip Gloss, which I'll get to.

Next in this line are the Eye Crayons.

From top to bottom:  Gold Mine, Purple Smoke, In the Navy, Green Tea

Again, love the @ symbol!  These can be used as a thicker liner or all over the lid to make your shadow more vibrant.  They are very creamy and glide on smooth.  These do require sharpening though.  You'll need a jumbo pencil sharpener.  Here's a shot of me wearing In the Navy as my top eyeliner.

Staying in the crayon family, we have the Lip Crayons.

From top to bottom:  Perfect Pink, Candied Apple, Violet Love, Toasted

My personal favorite part of putting on make up are the lips.  Love playing with lipsticks, glosses, etc.  These went on like a lipstick, but in a pencil form.  So you can use them any way you like.  To line your lips, or fill them in.  They have just a hint of a shine, as you can see in my swatches, so I wouldn't call them matte.

But you can add some extra shine with these Jelly Lip Glosses.

From top to bottom:  Berry Me, Hot Tamale, Crushed Plum, Teddy Bare

I think these are my favorite in the line.  Cause like I said earlier, I love playing with lip products.  And these are so much fun.  These are truly jelly like.  They do have some tackiness to them, but I personally like the tackiness.  It helps them stay put.  These, as well as the Lip Crayons, are not long wearing.  But I still love them!  Here's a shot of them sheered out.

I just love that Teddy Bare.  It's the perfect nude.

That's it for the Mary Kay @ Play line.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  Contact your Mary Kay consultant if you want to pick up a few of these products.  Or, of course, you can order them directly from my website.  www.marykay.com/adupepe  You can also check out my YouTube video to see more on these products.

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend so far!

Till next time!

Lots of Love,
Aimee Lou

Smokey Plum

Hey ya'll!  So I thought I would post this look that I did using some products from Mary Kay's new Limited Edition line Fairytales & Fantasies.  (See previous post for product details)

I'm calling this look Smokey Plum.

First I primed my eyes with The Balm's Put A Lid On It (not shown).  This is my favorite primer.  I have pretty oily lids and this stuff keeps my eye shadows from not creasing.
Next I used the limited edition smoke & shimmer eye wand in Amethyst Smoke all over the lid as well as on the lower lash line and blended it out with my finger.
I then patted Mary Kay's mineral eye color in Iris on top of the Amethyst Smoke using a flat shading brush.  Using this tip of the brush, I ran Iris along the lower lash line on top the Amethyst Smoke.
I used a blending brush and swept the color Tease from the Naked 2 palette (not shown) in my crease to help blend out the Iris color and creating that smokey look.
I didn't want shimmer in this look so I used Mary Kay's mineral eye color in White Sand for my inner corner highlight as well as my brow bone.
I then lined my upper lash line with Mary Kay's eyeliner in Black bringing it out into a slight wing.  I like to keep my eyeliner looking smooth so I used Mary Kay's mineral eye color in Coal with an angled liner brush to smooth out that line.
I lined my lower lash line with Mary Kay's eyeliner in Amethyst.
To finish off the look, I cured and primed my lashed with Mary Kay's Lash Primer and topped it with Mary Kay's Lash Love Lengthening mascara.  I used the new limited edition Lash Love Mascara in I <3 Plum on my lower lashes.

For my cheeks, I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour Blush in Exposed.  I then used it Cosmetic's Hello Light Creme Illuminator to highlight my cheekbones, down my nose and on my cupids bow.

Finally, after moisturizing my lips with Mary Kay's Satin Lips Lip Balm, I used the new limited edition glossy lip stain in Enchanted Mauve.

I really enjoyed this look.  That's why I wanted to share it with ya'll.

Tell next time....

Lots of love,
Aimee

Mary Kay's New Limited Edition - Fairytales & Fantasies Collection

Hey ya'll!

It's limited edition time with Mary Kay!  I love limited editions and this one is super fun!  Fairytales & Fantasies!  First off, I love the name of the collection.  Makes me think of Disney Princess's.  Yea, I love me some Disney.  Enough of the name though, let's get to the actual collection.

I'll start with the Smoke & Shimmer Eye Wands.  Although I love the smoothness of these, I'm on the fence about them.  Pretty colors, but very sheer.  But they are great for layering under eyeshadows.  Really makes that eyeshadow pop.

Colors from top to bottom:
Amethyst Smoke
Golden Illusion
Enchanted Mauve

The Amethyst Smoke is gorgeous!  This is my favorite out of the 3.  It's just like it describes.  Smoke.  It transfers with a grey undertone to it giving it that smoke look.

The Golden Illusion would be my next favorite out of the 3.  It's a little hard to see in the photo, but it's a very subtle gold color with just the right amount of shimmer.  Great for an inner corner highlight or even to bring out your eyes by lining your bottom lash line.

The Enchanted Mauve is more of a coral color.  Not sure where mauve fits in on this one, but still a pretty color.  Perfect for a lid color layered with a pretty coral eyeshadow.

Next we'll look at the Kohl Eyeliners.  I think these are my favorite in the entire collection.  They slide on crazy smooth and do not smudge a bit.  Exactly what I like in an eyeliner.

Colors from top to bottom:
Golden Illusion
Mulberry Forest

Yes, there is a trend here.  They named some of the products the same.  Not a problem with me though.  The Golden Illusion is beautiful!  I wore this in my lower waterline.  Really made my blue eyes pop.  Just like the eye wand, this can also be lined on the lower lash line to add brightness.  The Mulberry Forest is also a beautiful color.  Especially for Fall.  Who's excited for Fall??!!  Woop Woop!!  (Sorry.  I'm clearly excited for Fall.  LOL!)  This would be a fun pop of color on the lower lash line too.  As well as upper.

Moving right along with the Glossy Lip Stains.  Love these!!  With one exception though.  I'm not crazy about the wand, but I can get pass that.  These are definitely a stain.

colors from top to bottom:
Mulberry Forest
Enchanted Mauve

These colors are better described by their names, as you can see in the photo above.  I haven't yet experimented with the Mulberry Forest, but the Enchanted Mauve is fabulous.  It did stain more of a pink color, but it stayed on till I took it off.  I did loose some of the gloss, but the color stayed on.  Now, again not sure about the Mulberry Forest, but the Enchanted Mauve did bleed a little.  So to fix this, I primed my lips the TimeWise Age-Fighting Lip Primer and then lined my lips with Mary Kay Lip Liner in Clear.  Problem solved.

colors from top to bottom:
I <3 Green
I <3 Plum

And last but certainly not least, is the Lash Love Mascaras.  LOVE these!!  So much fun!  I've been wearing these on my lower lashes lately.  Such a fun pop of color.  And if you already love Mary Kay's Lash Love mascara, you are going to really enjoy these.

So that's it.  Isn't this a beautiful collection.  I thought so.  But if I had to choose, these would be my picks:
The Amethyst Smoke and Golden Illusion Eye Wands
The Golden Illusion Kohl Eyeliner
The Enchanted Mauve Glossy Lip Stain
The I <3 Plum Lash Love Mascara

I hope ya'll enjoyed this post and it gives you a better idea of Mary Kay's New Limited Edition  line.  If you don't already have a Mary Kay consultant, you can pick up any of these items on my personal website www.marykay.com/adupepe and have them shipped directly to you.  You can also check out my video below showing you the products.  Sorry about the lighting though.  My camera is 7 yrs old :/
