Hey everyone! How was your Monday? Mine wasn't so great, but at least it's over with and tomorrow is a new day.
Moving forward!
Over the weekend my friend and I went see Divergent. Loved the movie! Loved the book even better though! I wasn't disappointed at all, but there were moments where I thought we needed to know a little bit more about the character to understand what was happening. But overall, well done.
Being the makeup lover that I am, I couldn't help but check out Tris's look the whole time. So of course I had to come up with my own version of her look. Check out my video below to see just how I got it.
Hello everyone! Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend. I was able to have a glorious 4 day birthday weekend. Although this whole month is considered my birthday as far as I'm concerned ;) hehe! Anyway, I thought I would blog about some new products in the Tarte line. Their CC Primer & CC Foundation. (CC = Colored Clay)
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this beautiful packaging..........
Besides the packaging, I truly am loving these products. Especially the primer. I am so impressed with it. I'm not usually one to wear primer. Only because I have yet to find one that doesn't break me out. Until now! Not only does it not break me out, but it evens out your skin tone while making a beautiful canvas for your foundation. Any foundation for that matter. I've used it with all my liquid foundations. I still have yet to try it on my beloved It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. But I'm sure it would perform the same. It also mattifies as well. Which I like since I'm super oily.
Here is a shot of me before applying the primer.
A little bit of redness happening around my nose and chin area. As well as a small blemish by my lip.
Now here's a shot after I applied the primer.
Huge difference right?!! I promise I didn't use any filters. See how much more even my skin tone is? My small blemish is hardly even noticeable now. And can you see how it has mattified my skin as well? So impressed.
Let's talk about the CC Foundation for a bit. Although I'm not as in love with it as I am the primer, I am by no means disappointed in it. The coverage is amazing with or without the primer. So it's definitely a full coverage foundation. But being full coverage it feels light weight. My only 2 complaint's is that it seeps into my fine lines just a tad, and it doesn't keep my oily skin from shining through. (pun intended) On a good note, it doesn't break down at all. When I touch up during the day, it looks good as when I first put it on.
Here's a shot with the foundation on.
No concealer needed either for that blemish that WAS by my lip. Love the coverage!
Here's the finished product.
Other than me looking too serious, I love how even my skin looks.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm a wee bit on the oily side. But to give it the real test, I didn't touch up at all in this next photo which has been about 6 hours later.
Again, waaay too serious.
So even though I'm shiny, look how even my skin tone is. Even my pores are still minimal. Very impressed.
So that about covers it. Overall I love both products. But more so the primer. I'm just super impressed with it. You can of course get the primer at Sephora or Ulta, but the foundation is only available in the kit on QVC. Which I personally think is a GREAT deal. You get 6 full sized Tarte products plus the foundation brush you see me use in my video linked below. I'll link the QVC kit as well so you can check it out for yourself.
Hey everyone! I know I'm a tad bit late, but I wanted to share with you a Valentine's Day Tutorial. Since Valentine has come and gone, I'm gonna call this look "Soft Golden Pink".
Happy Mardi Gras! I know not everyone celebrates this time of year, but here in Louisiana, schools are closed as well as most businesses. It's a pretty big deal. Do I celebrate it? Nope. The only thing I like about Mardi Gras is the King Cake. Although I am grateful to have the day off, Mardi Gras does nothing for me. The crazy drunken crowds scare me. I'm only 5'2" so I can easily get lost in all that craziness. And beads are just useless to me. That was my little rant about Mardi Gras. I hope I didn't offend anyone. It's just not for me. Anyway, on with why we are here. I know lots of us have full time jobs and are looking for the fastest routine in the morning to get out the door. I am always trying to find ways to make my morning routine quicker yet still look nice. You know what I mean? For a few weeks now, I've been having the same makeup routine that seems to work well for me. Even though I change up my eye shadow, blush or lipstick on a daily basis, the routine you'll see in my latest video is fast and effective. Without filming the whole thing, this routine takes 10 minutes at the most. I think that's pretty good timing. One good tip in this video would be lining your waterline to give you that thick full lash appearance. Then slap on some mascara and you're good to go. Or simply lining the upper lash line with a smooth pencil instead of messing with a liquid or gel liner. My favorite pencil liners are the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils from Urban Decay. My favorite pencil for the waterline is the Highliner Gel Crayon from Marc Jacobs. I hope you enjoy the video and find it useful. And if you do celebrate Mardi Gras, I hope it was fun & happy for you. Lots of love ya'll! Till next time!
